RSVP & Updates
This past February, we visited Borgo Stomennano (the venue) and surrounding areas including Siena. Please carefully read below updates and learnings from our travels, so that you can enjoy Tuscany for all it has to offer. Scroll to the bottom of the page to RSVP by April 30th.
Siena's historic centre is a car-free zone with strict driving restrictions known locally as ZTL (Zona a Traffico Limitato). Personal and rental cars are not permitted within the city centre. Cameras automatically photograph license plates at every entry point, and fines of €80–€300 can arrive months after your trip.
If you're renting a car, you’ll need to park in one of the public lots just outside the city walls and walk or take a short taxi ride into the centre.
If your hotel is within the historic centre, contact them in advance with your license plate number — they may be able to arrange temporary access for drop-off only.
We will be providing a shuttle to and from the wedding venue. When you RSVP, please include the location of your accommodations so we can plan the shuttle route accordingly. The pickup and drop-off point will be located just outside the historic centre — we'll share the exact location once finalized.
Please note: If you are staying within the historic centre (ZTL), the shuttle will be unable to enter to pick you up. You will need to walk to the designated pickup point outside the city walls or arrange your own transportation to the wedding venue.
The pickup point will be determined once all guests have shared their address for accommodations. Please RSVP below.
We will not be providing transportation for the pizza party. Guests will be responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from the event.
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT STAYING + DRIVING IN SIENA
RENTING A CAR? LEARN ABOUT TOLLS
If you're renting a car and driving between cities like Rome, Florence, and Siena, you'll be using Italy's toll highways (called the Autostrada). Here's what you need to know:
When you enter the highway, you'll pass through a toll gate. Take a ticket from the machine (look for lanes marked "BIGLIETTO") and keep it safe — you'll need it when you exit.
When you exit, drive to a toll booth and pay based on distance traveled. Florence to Siena is roughly €8–€10.
Choose white or blue lanes only. White lanes accept cash or card. Blue lanes accept card only.
Do NOT enter yellow "Telepass" lanes (marked with a "T"). These are for electronic pass holders only. If you get stuck, do not reverse — press the red "AIUTO" (help) button and wait for assistance.
Do not lose your entry ticket — without it, you'll be charged the maximum fare for that highway.
As a general rule: stick to white or blue lanes and avoid yellow.

PRIVATE TRANSPORTATION
If you'd prefer not to rent a car or need transportation for airport transfers, day trips, or getting to and from events, we recommend booking a private driver.
